“Climate Gate” Development: CEI Files Notice of Intent to Sue NASA

Today, on behalf of the Competitive Enterprise Institute, I filed three Notices of Intent to File Suit against NASA and its Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), for those bodies’ refusal – for nearly three years – to provide documents requested under the Freedom of Information Act.

We Need to Talk About Your TPS Reports…

I’m sure this alleged email is just out of context, nothing to see here, there’s really an implausible meaning that’s more reasonable than the plain reading and all the rest of what we’re told about the ClimateGate emails, but, well, I’m just saying (and, yes, you caught me trumping this up, emphases are indeed added)

Update-2: PAJAMAS Media: Three Things You Absolutely Must Know About Climategate This could prove to be climate science’s Vietnam.

They’re calling it “Climategate.” The scandal that the suffix –gate implies is the state of climate science over the past decade or so revealed by a thousand or so emails, documents, and computer code sets between various prominent scientists released following a leak from the Climate Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia in the UK.

This may seem obscure, but the science involved is being used to justify the diversion of literally trillions of dollars of the world’s wealth in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by phasing out fossil fuels. The CRU is the Pentagon of global warming science, and these documents are its Pentagon Papers.

Update: Climategate: Falsified Research Scandal Rocks the UK

Karl Popper must be rolling over in his grave.

As world leaders prepare to meet in Denmark next month to discuss the implementation of the Copenhagen Protocol (the continuation of the Kyoto Protocol designed to cap carbon emissions in industrialized nations) one topic certain to be the buzz amongst attendees—at least unofficially—will be the growing “Climategate” scandal that currently rocking the United Kingdom.

Investor’s Business Daily EDITORIAL: E-Mails Of Climate Researchers Buttress Case Of Warming Fraud

Junk Science: Hacked e-mails from Britain’s Climate Research Unit are only the latest evidence of climate fraud. Just ask NASA’s James Hansen about the faking of climate data or EPA employees about the suppression of climate fact.

Hot Air WaPo reports on East Anglia CRU e-mails, global-warming controversy

As I wrote when the scandal first arose, the anthropogenic global warming advocates have not been practicing science, if these e-mails prove genuine. Scientists welcome debate and analysis of data to test hypotheses and theories. When people start attempting to silence dissent, they cease being scientists and start being high priests of a faith-based system. This smacks more of Galileo’s treatment than Galileo’s work. But, much as I take the science seriously, I question the zealotry of some advocates of this theory, particularly Al Gore. Many refuse to debate those who have come to different conclusions, dismissing the scientists offering such views as tools of corporate interests and otherwise insulting skeptics. And the disclosure of the e-mails from the University of East Anglia reveals that this attitude extends to scientists as well as activists.

Stolen e-mails reveal venomous feelings toward skeptics

While few U.S. politicians bother to question whether humans are changing the world’s climate — nearly three years ago the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change concluded the evidence was unequivocal — public debate persists. And the newly disclosed private exchanges among climate scientists at Britain’s Climate Research Unit of the University of East Anglia reveal an intellectual circle that appears to feel very much under attack, and eager to punish its enemies.
