Constitutional Crisis Coming?

2011/04/15

Get set for a constitutional crisis in America. It’s not a certainty, but it’s certainly a possibility following the decision of the Arizona state senate to enact a measure to require a presidential candidate to present a birth certificate before he or she can get listed on the presidential ballot in the Grand Canyon State.

Yeah sure pal, but what if he doesn’t have a driver’s license??

The whole thing is on its head, isn’t it?  We apparently can not tolerate an illegal candidate but we can tolerate millions of illegal voters.  We are inclined to support the Arizona initiative, but we feel that it fails to go far enough.  This is a representative Republic:  We have the right – better, we have the moral duty – to determine who runs for office and who is entitled to vote.

. . ....consent of the governed...

. . .

We are somewhat disappointed with the simplism of the birfers: The issue of “Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed” is an issue far beyond one man.  One must not become contemptuous of the Left for hijacking our electoral system, for indeed it is we who have failed in our G-d sent duty to guard it.  If they posted a mediocre empty suit from G-d only knows where, that’s their business.  It’s our business to sort it out.

Time, citizens; it is time to get back to work.  Perhaps a call to your Secretary of State and district Reps and Senators: State election reform would be a good place to begin.

It is not enough to merely stand athwart History and yell “Stop!”  It is time to dig-in and push back, HARD.

Jefferson said a republic needs an educated, virtuous populace in order to survive. Our current system encourages neither. Public schools are more interested in teaching kids what to think, instead of how to think, and our culture sneers at virtue.

The fact that we face a battle over the issue of preventing ineligibles from voting (and running) is a reflection of this.

Teach your kids well. We all depend on it.

Virtuous, huh? Those men were serious optimists.

      Kidding aside, you’re right.

BTW, Glenn Beck has been warning about coming riots and faux “anger” from the Left this summer – starting May. (I hate it when I’m ahead of Beck on something – never good news.) We could see the pattern form – starting with the Won’s comment “I’m the only thing between you and the pitchforks.” So much for Virtue with a gangster in the Oval Office.

Beck is demanding total Peace in response to the nonsense. He is onto something. To win this we are going to have to remain the calm adults. On the other hand, that applies to BRASS as well. Just sayin’.

Good luck with the course. Cheers!
