Dear Rabbi Hammerman: I thank Almighty G-d for Tim Tebow.

Shabbat Shalom Rabbi,

I truly feel gratitude, as an Orthodox Jew, for gentlemen in our midst such as Tim Tebow.  He is polite; he is strong in his character and his faith; he balances humility with fierce competition.  Mr. Tebow gives thanks where it is due. I can think of no finer role model in professional sports for today’s youth.

Rabbi Hillel said:
If I am not for myself, then who will be for me? And if I am only for myself, then what am I? And if not now, when?

We live in a Christian nation built upon a constitution of religious and personal Liberty.  This is no small feat given history and the human condition. This nation unlike any other on Earth has offered Israel and the Jewish people friendship, security and comity in Faith.  For these Blessings, too, I give thanks.

Shabbat Shalom,

Ran – Yoseph Chaiim ben Avraham

Honestly, its hard for me to believe that anyone can see Tim Tebow’s silent prayer practice as offensive, but for an ostensibly highly educated man of faith – and supposed reason – such as Rabbi Hammerman to criticize the peaceful and quiet faith practices of someone else is entirely mystifying.

Thanks. The “media” too have a few issues to sort-out. The Jewish Week out to have thought that through before setting the presses. ESPN and the weenies in “sports news” can get over it. They avoid discussion of behavior of the “occupy” savages; it’s not as if he’s raping the cheerleaders.

Heh. It took ’em long enough to get over Limbaugh’s comment “talent on loan from G-D.”

Beautiful words, thanks for sharing them.

Hubs agrees. He says Tebow is the best thing that’s happened to football since Roger Staubach.

    Whoever that is.

I was at a family Christmas party yesterday, and as we sat around with our Christmas plates on our laps, one room had the game on. I was so saddened at three of the men, two in their early 20’s. One of the three, the father of the other and both very involved in their very Liberal Christian church for their entire lifetimes. They continually made fun of Tim Tebow. I had to leave the room.

Thanks Ran, for a very clear position on right and wrong.

Somehow I get the impression that, if Tebow prostrated himself in the direction of Mecca, nobody would complain…

No. The leftist sports media would celebrate it.
